Well the Asian Buggy Championships has concludedWell the Asian Buggy Championships has concluded, and its time to hand out a few thankyous to the people that made it all happen.
Firstly and the key to it all - Mr Zac Ryan, for a few years now, Zac has been striving to host an international event at PHDR. The club has been pouring funds into infrastructure and improvements for many years now with the goal to host a prestigious event like the ABC. From track design and construction, to building the Media Centre, marshal path but to name a few of the things Zac has delivered. It all culminated with one of the biggest and best events held in Australia for many years, none of this possible without Zac. Second up and probably the busiest person over the weekend - Mrs Louisa Beale. Lou has been planning and planning and planning what and how we were going to feed 200 - 300 hungry racers over 4 big days. I think she has lost count of how many trips to woolworths she has done this week. The PHDR Committee - Ryan Orley, Matthew Leslie, these guys have been a huge part of providing racers with regular access to the track every week with a week night practice sessions. This has been wonderful in allowing new racers the opportunity to experience this awesome track. Special thanks to Ryan for spending most of the week helping set up the marquees, chairs and all the other things we needed to run this event. Special mention to Jackson Beale, the youngest member of the committee, he has been at every working bee in the last few months, and spent 5 days straight at the track before the event even started getting everything ready, only to then go home at night to either work at his part time job or fit in getting his 3 cars ready thanks mate! Blow in Committee - Jordan Van, came down to Brisbane on Monday to hang out with his mate Jackson, well unfortunately Jacksons dad had other plans and Jordan and Jackson spent Mon - Wed at the track building the wicked banner wall along the back straight and on the stand as well as any other jobs we could find for them. Those two guys saved us a LOT of work. The Audio Wizard - Dee Jones, a few weeks ago we discovered our audio system was… well “buggered”, Dee jumped in his car and drove home, only to turn up 2hrs later with a full blown rock concert set up, and didn’t it rock. Having professional audio really made the event, from the Scotty Ernst play list on Thursday to his dulcet tones throughout the weekend the audio system was a key element to the success of the event. Finally to the many many helpers we had in the working bees leading up to the event. The old saying many hands make light work. Well I reckon “many hands make a wicked event”. having all the helpers turn up allowed us to get the track and facilities up to the standard required to host such an event. We look forward to welcoming you to PHDR for ABC Rd 2 in 2024. |
