2021 AMS Alabama Manufacturer Shootout 12.0 is over
My weekend was up and down the whole time. I really enjoyed the technical track, it was hard, took a lot of focus, and was really fun when you hit a good lap. Graham Hill and I worked hard all weekend on the cars and tires, trying to get me comfortable and fast. We made a lot of good decisions, and made great progress.
After the Super Poles, which I had good speed in, just mistakes and circumstances happened in both, I would start 10th in Pro Electric Buggy, 7th in Pro Nitro Truggy, and 5th in Pro Nitro Buggy. I took a slight gamble in buggy and ran the whole 10 minute race without pitting. That was awesome and I gained a couple positions.
For the Pro Nitro Truggy 45 minute main, I was feeling really confident. Unfortunately my start was super rough, getting tangled up on lap 1. I was sent to the back of the pack and fought a bunch back there for a long time. I didn’t give up, found some flow and worked my way back up to 6th. It wasn’t a great finishing position, but I am proud of the effort I gave.
In Pro Electric Buggy, the format had triple A-Mains. I started 10th after a mechanical issue during the Super Pole. A1 and A2 I had some good mains, battling hard and finishing 5th in A1 and 4th in A2 which put me 5th overall.
Pro Nitro Buggy I had a great start from 5th to move into 2nd and battle pretty hard. My car and tires were working good and I had good pace. Maifield and I were having a really fun battle, but then a tiny mistake turned into a HUGE setback. I got just a little loose and ended up stuck in a pipe, with a very long marshal, dropping me back to 5th or 6th. That was a bummer, but it was my mistake. Got back into a groove and fought hard, finishing 4th at the end.
Huge thanks to Tekno RC, AKA Products Inc., NitroPro, Team Tekin Racing, JTP RC, Beach RC & Hobbies, all my fans, Graham Hill for all the help, all my Tekno teammates, my family, and the Good Lord Jesus Christ
