Another race post but this… this is a different one!
Practice day was pretty short and easy to learn. You don’t practice a lot with these motors for the fact that they car where out pretty quick and the cars break quite easy due to how big they are. So crashing is kinda scary cause there is a 50/50 chance you might break. Overall practice day was easy and simple. Clean up and get ready for 2 days of qualifying.
Qualifying Day 1 (Rd. 1&2) We started off strong with 2 TQ’s In Buggy and Truck in Rd 1. Cars were both easy to drive so no changes were made back in the pits. Rd.2 we back truck up with another TQ and already set on overall TQ for the event. I discussed with my buddy Jake McGarvey who was taking care of the cars making sure everything is working great to my likely that I wanted more motor. So Chris Bartolone, the man that builds id say one of the best 5th scale motors put together another motor overnight and he was brought over for day 2 of qualifying. As for buggy, I was on a TQ pace but ended up shredding the rear diff and lost it. So onto day 2 we go!!
Qualifying Day 2 (Rd.3&4) Rd.3 Truck was more of testing round. We put a bigger motor in but bigger motor = more weight and this track was tight. So therefore with this track being tight having that weight will hurt in the corners and it sure did. We still ended up with TQ. Buggy I just need one more run to strap in TQ and we did so we were done early and wanted to watch in Rd.4 duke it out. I ended up doing some footage for MOD Media and recorded the pro truck Rd.4 qualifying to give them something to look back on!
Main Day: We got some things ready the night before so we just prepped tires and charged for 2 40 min mains coming up. Buggy was a clean break away and never looked back and took the win. As for truck, I made a driving error which put me back about 6 spots and had to play catch up. Had to drive harder than ever to get back a half a lap down from Shaun Kirkman as he was looking to strap this up and call it his race. He a few mistakes of his own soon enough took the lead and it was a battle. 5 min to go he had a mechanical problem and started to make a gap and finish a lap up.
We got a double TQ and Double win. 2022 5th Scale World Champion in Buggy and Truck
Now time to get ready for the nationals and get things squared away! Thanks to Jake and Esat Sun for all the hard work! Big thanks to my sponsors as well!!
