Before you can run, you have to walk

Before you can run, you have to walk, and the first event of the year at SIC was a good start but winning is always the ultimate goal. In a back to back after SIC, we traveled to the TNR Fuels A-Main Challenge at Thunder Alley RC Raceway. We made a few more steps forward, and as always, it was a blast racing with my friends and competitors. I finished 1st, 2nd, and 2nd on the weekend earning the Grand Champion Award and very thankful for the bonus and opportunity.
________
The Thunder Alley Crew, Levi Jackson and the team over at TNR put on an awesome event. Obviously the crazy entries threw them a curve ball but Daniel Adams worked us through the program as quickly as possible. The Tekno RC rides rolling and topped off with JConcepts, powered by Protek RC and Hobbywing electronics were rocket ships as always.

Spencer and I pulled his trailer down for the event which always makes for a much more relaxing weekend. The short practice time would add some stress but ultimately knowing we would be on Green compound JConcepts Reflex tires from the first lap of practice until the last lap of the main made setup changes a little more straight forward.
________
The first round of qualifying got off to about as good of a start as you could ask for and I was able to grab the TQ in all 3 pro classes. The two rounds of qualifying the following day were not quite as clean and was only able to get the overall TQ in Pro Truggy and E-Buggy. I ended up 3rd on the grid in the 1/8th Pro Nitro Buggy class which still kept me up front and in the lead group. My new Tekno teammate Jared Wiggins had some great runs as well to put him up in the mix, showing that his hard work on the Tekno platform is also paying off.

The main events were once again up pretty late in the evening. I had another great day with the NT48 2.0 and was able to grab the win in Pro Truggy. Congrats to LiL Bump on a great 2nd place finish and racing well all weekend. Little buddy (Spencer Rivkin) was on it in the buggy classes and grabbed the win in those with solid drives. I was able to take home 2nd place finishes in both buggy classes and the TQ and victory in the truck class made it a satisfying main day. Looking over the race data from LiveRC, I was pleased with the speed and overall pace, just a few mistakes kept me from a better performance.
________
The consistency across the 3 classes with 1st, 2nd, 2nd finishes allowed me to take home the title of Grand Champion for the weekend which included some extra cash. Thanks to Daniel Lewis, Matt Wolter, and Matt Armeni for all the hard work for Tekno RC. I appreciate the help from Anthony Westergaard in the pits and the Nelsons on being so accommodating all weekend. Thanks to Ronnie and Spencer for having the trailer to share and Paul Wynn for making the trek from JConcepts to provide support. Thanks also to all of my sponsors and everyone who supports me in this hobby
