Hats off to the Racetime Entertainment crew

Post by Ryan Maifield 2y ago Event Reports
Hats off to the Racetime Entertainment crew, Lance MacDonald, the LiveRC team and everyone else who makes these events what they are. The PNB vibes were awesome, and the racing was fierce. Unfortunately, I was under the weather with a sinus infection that left me feeling a little burnt. Regardless of how I felt, it’s just not acceptable to have excuses at this level and I didn’t quite get the results I was looking for. I was able to take some input from teammates who were running well, learn a few things for the Tekno on the huge track layout and improve over the weekend. Overall, I finished 4th in 1/8th Nitro buggy, 11th in E-buggy, and 7th in Truggy on a weekend where that was all I had in the main events. Congrats to Dakotah Phend, Mason Fuller, and the rest who were absolutely flying this weekend.
________
A big thank you to David (Red) Scott for the trailer accommodations which gave me a place to rest and try to recover as well as the pit help. As usual, pitting with Spencer, having Ronnie there for anything we needed, and Adam Drake around always gives me a huge boost. Having a controlled practice was nice, it allowed me to prioritize time and have a better schedule when I needed to be at the track. Things were feeling good with the Tekno RC, JConcepts equipped, Hobbywing and Protek RC powered rides from the start of practice but I needed to drive a little cleaner and develop a little more pace.
________
Qualifying was an uphill battle and I kept working to better my grid position. After 2 rounds of qualifying, I landed in the 11th starting spot for both Truggy and E-buggy and 4th in Nitro Buggy. The nitro buggy was my best vehicle during the weekend ripping with the ProTek RC Samurai RM edition engine. I tried to place some priority there with my pace being better and a 45-minute main at the end of Sunday evening to look forward to. Talking to teammates about tires, and chassis setups, we decided on Relapse tires and some diff oil adjustments for the increased traction conditions.
________
In the buggy main, I battled back into 4th and had great races with Brandon Rose for 3rd who was running awesome all weekend. In one situation, unplanned, we hit the joker lane at the same time and tangled which was my fault and we both lost some ground while we hoped to stay with Dakotah and Mason who were running at a great level all weekend. In the end, I took 4th place and ended the weekend on a little higher note than it started.
________
Thank you to Tekno RC for the strong team and customer support at these events. Congratulations to Seth VanDalen for having a standout weekend with the Tekno equipment in Truggy and E-buggy. Shoutout to the JConcepts team for always having what we need and on-hand at the event. Thank you to Paul, Hannah, and Tyler for making the trek out and doing whatever needs to be done to support and cover the event. Thanks to Troy Hanson for traveling in from Vegas and showing that A-Main Hobbies and Protek RC are also brands for the racer.
