What a weekend it has been at the Asian Buggy Championships round 1 at the Counties RC Car Club in beautiful New Zealand! It has been a very testing and also rewarding weekend, I haven’t posted anything over the last few days as I’ve been focusing on being present at the track once again and learning my new package from top to bottom 🙂 For starters the event that was put on was seriously fantastic, it was such an awesome feeling being at a big racing event again, especially with Scotty Ernst on the mic all weekend 🎤 🔥 The track was extremely testing, plenty of character got built in during the early days of practice and proved to be very challenging to be as fast as possible but as smooth as possible with the old school ruts! I had a testing two days, trying to figure out the best setup to be fast but smooth my car out, I definitely drove like a bit of a mad man in qualifying and needed to calm things down 😂 (shaking off some rust haha). The finals day proved to be a good one, my ebuggy results were definitely far from impressive, I need some more time with this electric business once again🤣 Managed to settle with a 3rd place overall, my MP10e feeling much better in A3 today with some improvements made. Heading into the 45 minute nitro final I was a whole lot more confident in my package and got off to a clean start, I was trailing a few seconds back from lutz for the greater part of the start of the final, I caught up damn close and unfortunately my race turned upside down 🙃 We had made a mistake with timing my fuel stops and ran out of fuel, not once but twice 😁 This is nitro racing for you to say the least, mistakes can happen. Overall I was really happy with how I was travelling, I pushed as hard as I could after that to claw my way back to another 3rd place finish to finish the weekend with a double podium. This was only the 2nd track I’ve driven on with my new Kyosho cars, hot race tyres and nova engines! I have learnt so much and really enjoyed spending time with my dad and good friends from around the world at this wicked event. I cannot wait for the next one in the near future 😎 Congrats to all of the competitors who raced and placed this weekend, especially Ryan Lutz for the double win, great driving! Thank you so much to my dad Scott McBride for the epic weekend and support with everything, thanks to my sponsors for looking after me with all of the amazing products, thanks to my partner Celeste for letting me come on this one without her 😬 Shout out to Paul Mason & Mark Andrew for a fun weekend boys. 🙏 #SKR
