I’m returned and rested from the 2024 PNB in White Pine
_______
The pits were comfy thanks to David (Red) Scott and we were able to enjoy a nice pit area in the trailer. During qualifying, I was able to get TQ in the 1:8th Pro Truggy class and 1:8th Pro Buggy class. E-Buggy went well also getting a 3rd position on the grid. In practice and qualifying we used an assortment of tires testing JConcepts Dirt Bites, Falcons, Reflex, and Relapse. Ultimately, the Relapse was right for me and felt good on the @teknorc vehicles.
_______
Power delivery was important on the track, we were pretty heavy in the throttle for the majority of the lap. Long laps, a large track, I was able to open up the ProTek Samurai RM.1 edition engine. Things felt good and I was happy with the mileage figures going into the main events.
_______
In E-Buggy, the Hobbywing equipment was flawless again. I made very little if any changes from the last event and it kept me in the hunt all weekend. ProTek batteries were a key to the 10 minute main and the servos held strong in all the vehicles for the entire event.
_______
The Pro Truggy main was close the entire race. There were moments when things could have gone several different ways. However, I just tried to stay consistent and maintain a great pace. Pit stops were crucial, I made a couple small mistakes entering the pits, but, Adam Drake kept me in the hunt with some smooth stops. In the end, I was able to hold the lead to the finish and take the big 1st place trophy. Congrats to Seth VanDalen on 2nd and Dakotah Phend in 3rd.
_______
At 6pm it was time for the Pro Nitro Buggy main and everyone was ready. After the tunnel entrance we got a small warmup and things felt good. After a down and quiet, we ran off a few laps and I made one mistake at the top of the hill. Dakotah and I chased each other most of the race and it went back and forth. We had a gap back to 3rd so that allowed us to take a few more chances with our passing attempts, and pace. We were competing on the track and in the pits and everything seemed to matter at this point because things were pretty even. Dakotah made a jump pass at the end, I was able to rail the inside line down the hill and get back into the lead. Dakotah got hung up and I had just enough cushion to hold on to it and take the win. Congrats to Dakotah on finishing 2nd and Seth VanDalen in 3rd.
_______
The Pro E-Buggy main was up last for us and it was more of a shootout. Reducing it to 1 single main made it different than usual but it really came down to the first few laps for me. I made a risky move down the back straight going for it all in one move. It didn’t quite work out for me and I should have conceded the line back to Mason and lived to race another lap. Unfortunately, I fell way back and lost my rhythm and ended up 8th. I did have a few battles in the back of the pack with Spencer, Lee Setser, and David Ronnefalk and we all seemed to come off the stand laughing a little bit. Congrats to Mason Fuller on a great win, Brandon Rose on 2nd, and Jonah Wilson on the 3rd place and TQ during qualifying.
_______
Thanks to the JConcepts Team for being on-hand with Jason and Paul providing whatever we needed tire and support wise and Kevin handling the JC Media updates. A shoutout to Team Tekno and Matt Wolter for keeping us informed and together during the event. Scott Heckert kept us fed during the week and also provided a solid place to stay trackside for non-stop fun. Also, Adam Drake providing some great pit lane work during the finals which kept me in contention. #drakein
