I’m glad that ROAR decided to combine nitro and electric
My goal in qualifying was to have clean solid runs and stack up the top 3s. I ended up qualifying 1st in EB, 2nd in NT, and 3rd in EB. In NB I wound up with a 0,2 in the first 2 rounds and decided that with the tie breaker coming down to fastest run I would go for it in Q3 doing the 10 minute race without stopping for fuel. I felt pretty confident that I could after checking my mileage in the previous runs but it is always a risk, especially with the heat and humidity there. My tune and driving had to be absolutely spot on. I ended up getting by the for the extra lap and ran for a totally of 11 minutes. Was pretty pumped on that so we ended up doing it again in Q4 with the same success. This gave me most of Sunday to prep my car for the main without having to run the semi.
For the mains I had clean runs in ET but couldn’t make much happen. I went 2,2,2 for 3rd overall. Congrats to B Rose on his first Nats title! For EB I had some mistakes in A1 but walked away with the win in A1 and A2 for the overall! In NT I got out front and was able to get a decent gap before RM reeled me in which made for a very exciting race. The last few minutes we went back and forth quite a few times and were really struggling to get around with how dusty the track got. I saw an opening on the last lap before the triple and I took it. It was definitely aggressive but I felt like it was a good move on the last lap and was able to take the win. In NB I had a really clean first 30 mins and got out to a decent lead. I had a flameout in the pits which was totally on me. I took my hand off the radio for a split second and let off the gas which is when it died. After that me and RM battled it out hard for the rest of the race. I led the last 3 minutes and was able to cross the line first and take the win. A lot of respect to Ryan for how he pushes me to be at my best. We always race hard but have a lot of respect for each other on and off the track.
Thanks to everyone back home for all the support you guys mean a lot to me and thanks to Dylan, Chicky, Tyler, and the JC crew for the event support and helping to make this weekend possible!
