The 2026 Silver State Indoor Championships is complete

The 2026 Silver State Indoor Championships is complete. Overall, a great weekend in the Tekno RC pits with Mike Truhe helping all weekend to keep the equipment running while I was competing in 4 classes. I was able to take the TQ in 1:8th Nitro truck, qualified 3rd in E-Truggy, 4th in E-Buggy, and 3rd in nitro buggy. It was not an easy weekend, everyone had their equipment on-point and ready to rip for our first event of the season. Fortunately, I was able to walk away with victories in both truck classes, but I settled for 4th in the buggy classes. Each main had its own twists and turns and ultimately I was in the position I wanted to be in and fell just a bit short in buggy.

The Nitro Truggy main started a bit slow for me but I was able to work into my rhythm and pull out a nice gap on the competition. Phi-Long and few drivers dropped out early allowing me to concentrate on cleaning up a few racing lines on the track and gain confidence while the others battled into position. I was able to take advantage and cruise in for victory with the ProTek RC Samurai RM.1 powered Tekno truggy. I went to JConcepts Inc blue compound Falcons in the 45 minute race and felt confident the entire main with that combination. Little to no wear found on the tires after the main.  Looking over the entire truck, it looks good enough to drop on the track again, it is definitely a sharp piece in the racing arsenal.

The E-Buggy main was one of the most exciting races of the weekend. One of about 4 or 5 of us could have won that main. In the end, it went to Phi-Long who was fast all weekend, he was TQ and made a bold move at the end that stuck for the victory. I think we all dished it out and we all took a bit too, that’s how racing goes and we all accept it. All of us discussed it with race officials and we all agreed on the finish. That was the best my Team Cayote USA powered buggy was working all weekend and I’m satisfied I was able to compete for the win. Congrats to Phi-Long on a great win, Mason Fuller 2nd, and Jared Wiggins in 3rd.

A Hail Mary attempt went my way in the E-Truggy main to get the victory at the finish line. As it was in the E-Buggy class, we all raced hard, pushed the limit and threw some elbows but this one went my way. Congratulations to Spencer Rivkin on 2nd and Ryan Lutz 3rd. The JConcepts Falcons in blue compound worked wonders again on the evolving track conditions. The Flysky RC radio did all the detail work necessary to keep me in control and when it mattered the most.

The nitro buggy main had the most difficult conditions of any of our A-Mains. The choppy sections were back, actual holes developed, and landing areas started to disappear. After the A-Main warmup, I felt good about the Tekno NB48 2.2. Truhe and I left the setup alone utilized broken-in tires and went locked and loaded for the main. The start went well, I had a great place to work with and the pack was racing well together. I lost the car a few times in holes but everyone had their fair share of problem areas and we took turns in the lead.

I had an incident at the top left side of the track that cost a lot of time. After that, I felt it slipping away a bit and tried to drive my way back into it. When the track has gnarly conditions, it’s usually hard to make up for lost time without sacrificing more lost time. In my case, I went a bit backward and fell off the podium and finished 4th. If I had a do over, perhaps we make a few different changes for an even more difficult condition than the A-Main warmup. Congratulations to Mason Fuller who drove his way up into the lead and claimed a great victory. Nice run to Spencer Rivkin on finishing 2nd and Seth VanDalen coming up to finish 3rd.

As always, thanks to Joey and The Dirt track crew along with South Point Casino on another great event. Anthony Westergaard together with The Dirt created a fun and super challenging track. Thanks to Kenny Brosh and Jimmy Babcock on the race direction and announcing. Also, a shout out to LiveRC.com on getting us live for the weekend. Thanks to the JConcepts team with Jason, Allison, Paul, Hannah, and Lia on the great team support and coverage.

Next event, the TNR event in Norco, California.
