I thought my racing season was over but a last minute call put me in a rainy Falköping.
This race has a very different way of handling qualification, each driver drives two timed lapses on the track all by themselves while everyone else is watching. You count you fastest lap. Some people get nervous in this situation and you only have two chances. I managed to put in two good lapse and got the TQ. But my car was making a weird noise on the final lap. I noticed I had gotten a stone squeezed between the bottom plates and the rear diff. It was easily removed but I wonder how it managed to get in there since I have a shield that is supposed to hold tight for this particular reason. Need to look for a new solution during winter.
After quails we went straight to 10 minutes semi-finals which went pretty uneventful and I could turn my TQ into a pole for the A-final. I tried to remove the rear swaybar for the semifinal but I think I lost some stability in the car so I put it back for the final.
I got off to a little bit rough start, missed the first turn and has some battling going on but after the first lap I got our fairly cleanly and after a while I could settle down and get into a really comfortable and clean racing while still putting in fast laps. After 25 minutes I managed to win with 4 laps over second place driver Robin who beat me in the season finale of the Large Scale cup. This track was completely the opposite from a fast clean Astro track. This is the type of track I love to drive on and that the Ultron really shines. Looking at a video from the final you could see how the car was much more settled and in control compared with the others, most CMD cars that were bouncing around and looked fairly hard to drive consistently.
This was a great last race that gave me some good energy and confirmation about the car going into the winter and preparing for next race season.
