The World Championship were held at the RANCH PIT SHOP in Pomona, California, USA. This track is the home of one of our biggest rivals, Team Losi. It was a completely away race.

I received full support from the tire manufacturer Proline, but I believed that the track surface would definitely match Losi's tires, so I brought in a large number of Losi tires and matched my car with Losi tires. 
My guess was right, and my car, which was fitted with Losi tires, was running at a time equal to or better than that of Team Losi's cars.

The car we used was Yokomo's new prototype, and most of the chassis, body, wing, suspension, wheels, etc. were newly designed.
We prepared a special car which was made to match the RANCH PIT SHOP track.

My team-mate Mr. Mark Pavidis, with the same setting as me, was able to finish high in qualifying, which was a big factor in getting me closer to victory.
In the final, I was able to break away from Team Schumacher's Mr. Jukka Steenari and Mr. Teemu Leino to give me the top finish.

I was able to win the 4WD as well as the 2WD at the World Championship in the United States, that is said to be the most difficult to win in the world. The name of the car which won my 9th world title was the "YOKOMO MX-4".

アメリカ・カリフォルニア州のポモナにあるRANCH PIT SHOPで開催された世界選手権。 このサーキットは、私たちの最大のライバルの 1 つであるチーム ロッシのホームサーキット。

広坂は、タイヤメーカーのプロライン社に全面的にサポートを受けている身でしたが、「本番では必ずロッシタイヤに路面がマッチするはず」と考え、大量のロッシタイヤを持ち込み、自分の車をロッシのタイヤにマッチングさせて準備した。
その予想は的中し、ロッシタイヤを履いた私の車は、チーム ロッシの車と同等かそれ以上のタイムで走行することが出来た。

使用した車は、ヨコモの新型プロトタイプで、シャーシ、ボディ、ウイング、サスペンション、ホイールなどのほとんどが新設計したもので、RANCH PIT SHOPサーキットに合わせた特別仕様車を準備した。

同じセッティングを施した、チームメイトのマーク・パビディス選手が予選で上位に食い込んでくれたことが、優勝に近づけた大きな要因だった。
決勝ではチーム シューマッカーのユカ・ステナリ氏とティーム・レイノ選手を振り切ってトップフィニッシュ。

世界で最も勝つのが難しいと言われるアメリカでの世界選手権において、2WDに続き4WDでも優勝することが出来た。
自身9度目の世界タイトルを手にしたそのマシンの名は『YOKOMO MX-4』。
